The only beauty product you need!

…product for your beauty regime. Well, maybe a couple more but definitely not as many as a lot of people have. I want to extol the virtues of sweet almond oil. It could be my ‘product of the month’ but it’s my product of the year really! You can use it for everything!

Product of the month of March!

egyptian-magic

This little pot of balm is AMAZING! Egyptian Magic has been around for a while, but I only just got round to buying a pot last month. It is made only from Olive oil, Beeswax, Bee Pollen, Royal Jelly, Honey and Propolis extract. So no synthetic nasties lurking anywhere. Unfortunately it might have cost a few airmiles, but one pot at least should last you a while! Continue reading “Product of the month of March!”

Early Spring Clean…

…ok so it’s not quite Spring yet, but it does feel like it’s so close due to this surprisingly warm weather we have had for winter! If it is due to climate change then all the more reason to be that little more ecologically aware, make your green footprint even bigger starting from today!

But back to the body – in winter our skin can become like a lizard’s and needs to be sloughed, brushed and buffed back to shiny, smooth perfection! Our circulation too can be sluggish as perhaps we spend more time inside on the sofa or in bed hibernating! The best way to wake up and renew our skin is by  dry body brushing, an old, old technique that really works.

How long should I keep makeup for…?!

…definitely not as long as you think or do!  I admit that I have had things in my bathroom cupboard for longer than I should, and I think many people continue to use products month after month, year after year without thinking.  All cosmetic products and makeup have an expiry date just like food.  They do go off and deteriorate with time due to exposure to air and contamination by micro-organisms and bacterias that come from our fingers and makeup brushes. The compositions may also separate and often products lose their efficacy, especially suncreams for example. For this reason it is imperative that we take care with our products, and become aware of how long we have had them to decrease the risk of infections, what’s more we don’t want to be using a product that is essentially ‘past its use by date’!

Eco-Bathrooms – Eliza’s

I asked my friend and yoga teacher Eliza what natural, organic beauty products she was using and  could recommend. Being passionate about using more natural products myself I wanted to know what others were using and why. I think there is still a stigma attached to ‘natural’ products that they don’t work as well or smell odd, but in fact very often this is simply not the case!

Here’s what she said…

Neroli firming facial day cream SP15

I have been using this face cream since I bought it on a recent trip to London (you can buy it in Boots) and I LOVE it!  It smells divine, its the neroli essential oil that it contains. Neroli essential oil is known in skincare for its rejuvenating and regenerative properties, helping to promote smooth skin and alleviate stretch marks and broken capillaries. The oil is extracted from the small white blossom flowers of the Bitter Orange Tree. It is excellent for calming the mind and body in times of stress or anxiety, promoting a sense of tranquility and ease, it can also be used during pregnancy (in moderation) as it induces relaxation and is a useful uterine tonic.
